About the role

Job Summary

Verification that plant equipment is in compliance with project contract and specification requirements, conforms to design operational feasibility, and is set up and tested per the supplier's requirements, within the engineer's discipline capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Provide resident Commissioning and Com10-year services as Owner’s Engineer. Monitor start-up and commissioning activities and support start-up engineers to accomplish following activities –

Verification that plant equipment is following project contract and specification requirements, conforms to design operational feasibility, and is set up and tested per the supplier's requirements, within the engineer's discipline capacity.  Provides functional directions to technicians and craft on Owner staff. As lead Discipline Engineer, provides functional direction and monitor other discipline engineers, technicians, and craft support on staff.

Adheres to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities

Assist in the development of startup packages as required

Demand and review all documentation required for proper maintenance of the startup packages

Review preparation and maintenance of a detailed startup schedule

Provide comments proactively for startup activities and major milestones (such as major equipment, chemical cleaning, steam blow, or demonstration and performance testing)

Review construction completion, turnover to startup, startup turnover to operations, and final turnover to the client

Review and monitor development of clear startup procedures as required to satisfy the contract and/or coordinates the startup effort

Assists in the advanced planning and preparation for startup activities and major milestones

Monitor the development and implementation of programs for the control of; spares, consumables, outstanding work and deficiencies lists.

Monitor the startup effort ensuring compliance with the associated specifications and contracts and ultimately resulting in an efficient and timely turnover to the client

Perform regular system walk downs/reviews to establish the completion status of systems and identify outstanding items to be completed

Review and monitor CCGT Power Plant equipment and systems within the engineer's discipline capacity

The primary point-of-contact for all system functions through startup and operation of the plant

Activities include but are not limited to: Verifying systems are installed per design, review design operational feasibility, monitor recording of as-built engineering changes on drawings, monitor proper setup and testing of equipment as per supplier requirements, monitor and coordinate with other discipline engineers assigned to the project,

Directs discipline start up engineers and discipline start up technicians

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years minimum as Lead Start-up or commissioning or Operation Engineer in CCGT or gas turbine based project
  • 10 years relevant experience with combined cycle power plant experience.
  • Sarawak CIDB Green Card and necessary trade certifications as applicable to discipline.
  • Bachelor's or Diploma in Engineering preferred

Minimum Qualifications

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Physical Demands:

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
  • See and hear naturally or with correction.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
  • Requires repetitive movement.
  • May require work above 5 feet in height.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

Work Environment

  • Typical construction site environment:
  • Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
  • Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Work around hazardous equipment.
  • Typical office environment.
  • This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
