About the role
What you will do
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in API design, development, and enterprise integration delivery.
- Strong experience in designing, developing, securing, and managing APIs across on-premises, SaaS, cloud, and hybrid ecosystems.
- Proven expertise in end-to-end API lifecycle delivery, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, publishing, and support of enterprise APIs.
- Deep hands-on experience with Google Apigee API Management/Gateway, including API proxy development, shared flows, traffic management, analytics, and policy enforcement.
- Strong understanding of API security concepts and implementation, including authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0, token-based security, throttling, rate limiting, and secure service exposure.
- Experience developing and testing API proxies, reusable shared flows, and custom policies using JavaScript, Java, Node.js, Python, and related technologies.
- Deep knowledge of API design patterns, RESTful architecture principles, and enterprise API best practices.
- Experience implementing advanced API management capabilities such as logging, caching, request/response transformation, custom analytics, monitoring, throttling, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of API standards and integration technologies, including OpenAPI 3.0, Swagger, REST, SOAP, JSON, messaging, microservices, and distributed integration patterns.
- Hands-on experience designing stateless distributed architectures with strong focus on scalability, resiliency, performance, and maintainability.
- Experience analyzing, documenting, and improving key API platform capabilities such as API catalogs, developer enablement, monitoring, observability, and analytics.
- Good understanding of DevSecOps best practices, with exposure to source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automation using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Ability to create architecture diagrams, solution flows, and technical documentation using Visio or similar tools to communicate API and integration designs effectively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to champion API best practices, continuous improvement, standardization, and knowledge sharing across large-scale enterprise initiatives.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence and innovation by promoting reusable patterns, scalable API architecture, and modern platform engineering practices.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
- Proven experience as an API Platform Engineer, Integration Engineer, or similar role, with 7–10 years of experience in a development, engineering, or technical lead capacity.
- Strong experience in designing, developing, securing, and managing APIs across on-premises, SaaS, cloud, and hybrid ecosystems.
- Proven expertise in end-to-end API lifecycle delivery, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, publishing, and support of enterprise APIs.
- Solid understanding of API platform engineering, API gateways, API management, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience implementing scalable, secure, and reusable API solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, API security, authentication and authorization mechanisms, and service governance.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including architects, developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
