About the role
What you will do
- Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team: You will inspire, mentor, and lead a talented team of mechanical design engineers. Your primary focus will be on fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative environment where team members can thrive. You will manage the full talent lifecycle, including setting clear objectives, conducting performance reviews, and creating robust development and growth plans for every engineer.
- Drive Project Execution & Excellence: You will be accountable for the team's successful delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet critical milestones for quality, on-time delivery, and cost. This includes leading rigorous design reviews, providing expert technical guidance, and ensuring all deliverables are of the highest quality and ready for manufacturing.
- Champion Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a key technical partner to other departments. You will collaborate closely with leaders in Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to resolve technical challenges, streamline processes, and ensure seamless integration throughout the product lifecycle.
- Advance Engineering Capabilities: You will stay at the forefront of engineering tools and methodologies, driving the adoption of best practices within your team. This includes championing process improvements, overseeing the use of CAD and PLM systems, and identifying opportunities to leverage new technologies to boost productivity and innovation.
- Contribute to Strategic Vision: You will play a key role in shaping the future of our engineering function. By managing resources, aligning team priorities with business goals, and contributing to the technology roadmap, you will help ensure our design capabilities remain best-in-class.
What you will bring:
- Leadership & Experience: A mechanical engineering background with 13+ years of progressive industry experience, including at least 5 years in a direct people management role.
- Core Engineering Design: Extensive hands-on experience in mechanical design, with demonstrated success in New Product Development (NPD), VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering), and design automation. You should have a strong command of Design for X (DfX) principles, including Design for Manufacturing, Quality, Circularity, and Cost.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in leading 3D CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) and a strong command of PLM processes and tools (particularly Teamcenter). Your experience must include demonstrated proficiency in core HVAC or similar mechanical domains, including structural design, refrigeration system components, sheet metal fabrication, and complex piping and tubing layouts.
- Advanced Methodologies: A solid understanding of integrating advanced capabilities into the design process, such as Model-Based Definition (MBD) and Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), to automate workflows and reduce rework.
- Innovative Mindset: A passion for staying current with emerging technology trends, including AI-driven generative design, design for additive manufacturing, AR collaboration, and IoT-driven design.
- Strategic Contribution: The ability to help shape the future of engineering design by experimenting with new technologies and contributing to the strategic roadmap.
- Exceptional Communication: Superb written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas clearly and effectively.
