The Role: EMS Operations Manager

Location: Batam and Vietnam

Function: Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS)

Company: Schneider Electric

We are looking for an experienced EMS Operations Manager to lead Schneider Electric's operational performance at our Contract Manufacturing partner while playing a critical role in upstream supply chain management, supplier performance, material availability, and supply risk mitigation.

The role acts as a key interface between Schneider Electric, the Contract Manufacturer, and the broader supplier ecosystem to ensure materials, capacity, and manufacturing operations are ready to meet business and customer demand. You will work closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Planning, Suppliers, Quality, Industrialization, and Manufacturing teams to proactively manage supply constraints, supplier capacity, material shortages, and operational risks.

What will you do?

Supply Chain Upstream & Supplier Management

  • Drive upstream supply chain performance to ensure material availability and continuity of supply to the Contract Manufacturer.
  • Work closely with suppliers, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Planning teams to identify and mitigate material shortages, supply constraints, and capacity risks.
  • Monitor critical and watch-list suppliers, including supplier capacity and supply continuity risks.
  • Lead supplier-related action plans to address shortages, capacity gaps, delivery issues, and other upstream constraints.
  • Drive continuous improvement within upstream supply chain processes to improve supply reliability and operational performance.
  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers and manufacturing partners to accelerate issue resolution and improve responsiveness.
  • Proactively escalate critical supplier and material risks while coordinating recovery plans with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure supplier capacity and material readiness are aligned with production plans and customer requirements.

Supplier Performance & Supply Risk Management

  • Act as a key operational interface with the Contract Manufacturer and supplier ecosystem, ensuring alignment on delivery, capacity, quality, and operational priorities.
  • Conduct regular reviews of supplier capacity, constraints, and critical supply risks.
  • Partner with Procurement and supplier-facing teams to develop sustainable recovery and improvement actions.
  • Analyze supply chain bottlenecks and drive cross-functional actions to minimize production disruption.
  • Strengthen supply chain resilience by identifying potential upstream risks before they impact manufacturing and customer deliveries.
  • Drive clear supplier accountability and follow-through on agreed improvement and recovery plans.

Manufacturing & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee end-to-end operational performance at the Contract Manufacturer site.
  • Drive achievement of manufacturing and delivery KPIs, including OTD, OEE, yield, productivity, capacity, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor manufacturing and supply chain performance and lead corrective actions when deviations occur.
  • Ensure production requirements are effectively synchronized with material availability and supplier capacity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and supply chain operations.

Contract Manufacturer Partnership

  • Build a strong and collaborative relationship with the Contract Manufacturer to improve operational and supply chain performance.
  • Act as a key interface between Schneider Electric internal teams, the Contract Manufacturer, and external suppliers.
  • Ensure alignment between production priorities, supply requirements, supplier capabilities, and customer demand.
  • Establish strong operational governance with partners and drive accountability for actions and performance.
  • Facilitate rapid resolution of issues involving manufacturing, material availability, supplier performance, and capacity.

Industrialization & Process Management

  • Oversee key electronics manufacturing processes covering SMT, PTH, ICT, FATP, PCBA manufacturing, final assembly, and testing.
  • Support new manufacturing line setup, product transfers, ramp-ups, and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Lead engineering changes and ensure readiness of manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and suppliers.
  • Monitor production line and supplier capacity to identify potential bottlenecks.
  • Ensure manufacturing documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and BOM requirements remain aligned.

Digitalization & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve upstream supply chain visibility and operational decision-making.
  • Support manufacturing and supply chain digitalization initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements that enhance productivity, supply reliability, traceability, and operational efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the on-site team and manufacturing partner.

Team & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead and develop the on-site team to deliver operational and supply chain objectives.
  • Influence suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve agreed business outcomes.
  • Establish effective collaboration across Supply Chain, Procurement, Planning, Quality, Industrialization, Manufacturing, and external partners.
  • Create a culture of ownership, proactive risk management, and rapid problem-solving.

What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Strong experience in Supply Chain Upstream, Supplier Management, Manufacturing Operations, EMS, or Contract Manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience working directly with suppliers on material availability, supply constraints, delivery performance, capacity, and operational issues.
  • Strong understanding of upstream supply chain processes, material management, supplier capacity, shortage management, and supply risk management.
  • Experience managing supplier escalations and developing recovery actions for critical supply constraints.
  • Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing and supply chain environments.
  • Ability to analyze supplier and supply chain issues and translate them into clear operational action plans.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across Procurement, Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and external supplier organizations.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience within EMS, electronics manufacturing, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience managing upstream suppliers and supplier performance.
  • Experience dealing with critical material shortages, supplier capacity constraints, and supply recovery plans.
  • Knowledge of demand/supply planning, material management, logistics flows, and inventory management.
  • Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes such as SMT, PCBA, PTH, ICT, and final assembly/testing.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing transfers, NPI, ramp-up, and capacity expansion.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make decisions in a fast-changing supply environment.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Experienced in dealing directly with suppliers and upstream supply chain challenges.
  • Able to confidently engage and influence suppliers when facing shortages, capacity constraints, delivery gaps, or operational disruptions.
  • Strong in both supplier management and manufacturing operations, with the ability to connect upstream supply performance with factory execution.
  • Proactive in identifying supply risks before they impact production or customer delivery.
  • Comfortable managing multiple supplier and operational escalations simultaneously.
