The Physical Security Standards & Training Specialist delivers the EdgeConneX security standards, assurance & training program across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Where their Manager owns the global framework, this role makes it real at site level - training security personnel so they are competent to deliver the standards, assessing and evidencing that sites meet them, and supporting sites to implement the standards, procedures and controls consistently. The role exists to give EdgeConneX a consistent, measured and auditable security capability across its APAC sites, and to carry the realities of regional operations, regulation and culture back into the global program.
This position works day to day with APAC site security teams, regional operations leadership and contracted security providers, and regular travel to sites across the region for assurance and training delivery is required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver on-site training to security personnel across APAC sites on EdgeConneX security standards, systems and operational processes, adapting delivery to local languages, cultures and operating models while holding to the global standard.
- Run site security inductions, awareness sessions and exercises across the region, and verify personnel competency through assessment against the security training and competency framework.
- Maintain regional training records, refresher schedules and completion reporting in the learning-management capability, and escalate competency gaps to site leadership and security providers for resolution.
- Act as the regional point of contact for contracted security providers on training and competency requirements, confirming that their personnel meet EdgeConneX standards before deployment and remain current thereafter.
- Plan and conduct control assessments and site audits across APAC sites under the global security assurance program, assessing practice against the standards framework and recording results in a consistent, evidenced format.
- Track regional findings, agree remediation actions and timelines with site and regional control owners, verify closure and report regional assurance status to the Manager for inclusion in leadership reporting.
- Support customer, certification and other external audits in the region - preparing audit-ready evidence, hosting assessors on site and guiding site teams through the audit process.
- Maintain the regional contribution to the assurance evidence repository, ensuring evidence for APAC sites is complete, current and retrievable.
- Support the implementation of the corporate security standards framework across APAC sites, translating global standards, procedures and control descriptions into site-level practice and confirming they are understood and applied consistently.
- Identify regional regulatory, licensing and customer requirements that affect how the standards are applied in APAC, and work with the Manager to reflect them in standards, procedures and control descriptions.
- Maintain site-level security documentation for the region (site procedures, post orders and local control descriptions) within the document-control and review cadence set by the Manager, ensuring every site holds current, approved versions.
- Capture lessons from regional incidents, audits and exercises and feed them back into the standards and training program; pilot and roll out updated standards and training material across APAC sites.
- Travel to sites across the APAC region for assurance and training delivery; other duties as required.
Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (security, risk, compliance, business administration or similar), or equivalent vocational experience.
- Demonstrable experience in a security assurance, compliance, audit or operations role, including conducting assessments or audits and tracking findings to closure.
- Experience delivering on-site security training, inductions or exercises to operational personnel and assessing their competency.
- Experience in the Data Center, critical infrastructure or technology sector, including exposure to customer audit regimes and physical security operations (strongly preferred).
- Experience working with contracted security providers and across multiple sites or countries in the APAC region.
- Relevant certification such as ISO 27001/22301 Internal or Lead Auditor, ASIS APP, PSP or CPP, or a recognized training and assessment qualification (desirable).
- Comfortable working independently across shifting priorities, with clear ownership and consistent execution.
